What are aligners and what are they made of?

Aligners are transparent, individually adapted plastic splints for an almost invisible treatment of misaligned teeth. With the help of modern 3D technology, we create a probable before and after simulation of your teeth. On this basis and depending on your individual treatment plan, we then manufacture the required number of perfectly fitting aligner pairs for you. DR SMILE aligners are made of dimensionally stable, thermoplastic and medically approved plastic (ISO 9001:2015). They are free of plasticizers (BPA) and other harmful substances.

Yes, of course! The aligner technology has been tried and tested for decades and has always been further developed. Today it is the most important alternative to fixed and loose braces .

For a treatment with the transparent aligners from DR SMILE you should be at least 18 years old and your teeth and gums should be healthy. Tooth decay or inflammation of the gums should therefore be treated before the therapy. Our partner practices will be happy to plan necessary dental treatments with you in advance of your aligner therapy.

DR SMILE treats mild to moderate misaligned teeth. In the case of severe tooth misalignment, a DrSmile treatment cannot be carried out. You will then be referred to a qualified orthodontist. If you have a crown, treatment is usually not a problem either. If one or more teeth are missing, a dental impression must be used in individual cases to see whether therapy is possible. In the case of a bridge or if implants are present, treatment is unfortunately not possible because they make it impossible to move the teeth. If you take certain medications or are pregnant, your gums may be much softer and more prone to inflammation. Advice and information about whether treatment with a dental splint is okay takes place on site in the partner practice. Our treatment is aimed specifically at adults over the age of 18, we do not offer treatment with dental splints for children and adolescents.
